Lap times, top speed, and pit stops at the 2026 Miami GP
Kimi Antonelli won qualifying for the 2026 Miami GP with a time of 1:27.798. This is 1.594 seconds slower than the Miami International Autodrome qualifying record, held by Max Verstappen since 2025 – 1:26.204.
Lando Norris set the fastest lap during the race. The Briton clocked 1:31.869 on lap 35. This is 2.161 seconds slower than the official race lap record at Miami International Autodrome (such records come from races), set by Verstappen in 2023 – 1:29.708.
The highest top speed during the race was achieved by George Russell. The Briton recorded 334.1 km/h at the top speed measurement point (located on the straight in the last sector). Last year at the same spot, speeds were much higher, as Alex Albon reached 345.1 km/h. The real top speed in the race was higher; based on telemetry data, F1 reported Russell reached 350 km/h at another part of the track without a measurement point. This year, due to the electric power running out at the end of straights, telemetry measurements are more important.
The fastest pit stop during the 2026 Miami GP was performed by the Racing Bulls mechanics. On lap 28, they changed the full set of wheels on Arvid Lindblad’s car in 2.08 seconds. The season record remains Ferrari’s 2.00 seconds at the Japanese GP. The overall Formula 1 record is McLaren’s pit stop with Lando Norris at the 2023 Qatar GP – 1.80 seconds.
Attendance at the 2026 Miami GP
During the TV broadcast, it was announced that all tickets for the 2026 Miami GP were sold out. Unfortunately, this time the exact number of spectators was not provided, and the organizers did not specify it on their website either. Selling out all tickets is a success; for every previous F1 race in Miami, tickets were sold out or nearly sold out. However, attentive viewers surely noticed that during Friday’s F1 practice, the stands were mostly empty. There were many fans during Friday’s sprint qualifying, but certainly not full stands. Perhaps fewer tickets were sold for the whole weekend this year, or fans did not fully attend. This might be why exact attendance figures were not given, as it could have been lower than last year. Details of past attendance are in the table below. The total capacity of the Miami track is about 100,000 people, so such attendance is expected for the Sunday race.
