Helmut Marko became the ambassador of the Red Bull Ring track after many years of work within the Red Bull structures

Doctor Helmut Marko, one of the most recognizable figures in the Formula 1 paddock, has gained a new role. The 82-year-old Austrian has been appointed ambassador of the Red Bull Ring circuit, which will host the Austrian Grand Prix (June 26–28). The nomination was Marko’s first public step after his departure from the Red Bull Racing structures at the end of 2025.

Marko personally announced his new role during an event in Vienna. The information was confirmed in a conversation with journalists from the Austrian edition of OE24.

What the status of circuit ambassador means

The position of Red Bull Ring ambassador mainly includes representative functions. The scope of tasks includes participation in promotional activities during the race weekend, cooperation with the circuit’s commercial partners, and contact with fans. In practice, Marko becomes the face of the circuit, symbolically linking its history with Red Bull’s legacy in motorsports.

A long era has come to an end

After the end of the 2025 season, Marko left two key positions within Red Bull’s structures. He resigned from the role of motorsport advisor, which he had held since the team’s entry into Formula 1 in 2005, and also stepped down as head of the junior program, operating since 2001.

Marko’s contribution to shaping Red Bull’s driver lineup is hard to overestimate. It was he who flawlessly spotted the potential in young Sebastian Vettel, who later became a four-time world champion, and in Max Verstappen, who repeated this achievement. The system of training created by Marko also produced Daniel Ricciardo, Carlos Sainz, and Pierre Gasly, each of whom has firmly established themselves among the world’s motorsport elite.

The bitterness of defeat as the final argument

Marko himself described his decision to leave with surprising honesty. “We had a difficult season. It was especially uneven in the middle. In the Netherlands, we lost 104 points. Then an exceptional comeback began. But we lost the championship by just two points. That comeback was exceptional, yet it became a very bitter disappointment,” he admitted.

According to Marko, the final decision was made in Dubai, the day after the season’s final race. “Even after the race, I felt that something was lost. Even if we had won, it would have been a sufficient reason to leave. But the defeat also became a strong argument.”

This information about Marko’s appointment as circuit ambassador gains additional significance against the backdrop of what his former team is going through. The departure of the architect of the junior program coincided with a period of deep restructuring in Milton Keynes.

How bookmakers reacted

The betting industry reacted almost immediately to Red Bull’s drop in form. Odds on Verstappen’s title clearly increased, and interest in bets on Formula 1 as a whole noticeably grew amid the season’s increasing unpredictability.

We ourselves analyzed several thematic rankings related to the gambling industry, including resources with promotions for new users. Among the sites aggregating such offers, we came across a page with no deposit casino bonuses or: no deposit casino bonuses, where we found several popular brands offering not only gambling games but also sports betting. It was the bookmakers’ offer that interested us when analyzing forecasts for the upcoming races in the championships. And the odds for Red Bull’s success indeed changed to Red Bull’s disadvantage.

Future regulations as the burden of the present

Significant pressure on the team’s current results is exerted by extensive preparations for technical regulation changes in 2026. The need to shift resources between the current car and the future project puts Red Bull in an unusual situation for a team accustomed to fighting for titles. This background makes the moment of Marko’s departure particularly symbolic: the era he built over two decades gives way to a new reality.
