Achievements and records of drivers who finished on the podium
Kimi Antonelli won the seventh F1 race of his career.
Antonelli won an F1 race starting from 19th position. Only John Watson in a McLaren won an F1 race from a lower position, starting 22nd at the 1983 USA West GP.
Antonelli set the fastest lap in the race for the seventh time this season and the tenth time in his career.
Antonelli recorded his 14th career podium.
Antonelli stood on the podium 11 times this year. In the other two races, he had serious technical problems and scored no points.
According to Formula 1 data, Antonelli made 25 successful overtaking maneuvers during the race, which is said to be an overall F1 record. Take this with a grain of salt, as the methods of measuring overtakes by F1 changed some time ago and now higher numbers are reported.
Antonelli recorded his worst qualifying result this season – seventh position.
George Russell recorded his 31st career podium.
Russell achieved his best results at the Monza track in his career: second place in qualifying and in the race.
Antonelli and Russell currently have seven F1 wins each.
Max Verstappen recorded his 132nd career podium.
Verstappen finished on the podium at the Italian GP for the fourth time yesterday, but for the first time on a step other than the top one.
Pierre Gasly earned his first Pole Position in his career.
Gasly became the 109th driver in F1 history to earn Pole Position.
Gasly earned Pole Position in his 191st F1 start. Only Sergio Perez waited longer for such a success – 216 races.
Gasly is the tenth Frenchman to earn Pole Position in F1. French drivers have started from pole 80 times in total. The previous Frenchman to earn Pole Position was Jean Alesi at the 1997 Italian GP, so almost exactly 29 years have passed.
Gasly’s only F1 victory was at Monza in 2020, and his only Pole Position also at this track in 2026.
Gasly currently has 499 points in his F1 career.
Gasly led only two F1 races in his career: the 2020 Italian GP and the 2026 Italian GP.
Achievements of other drivers
Lando Norris always scores points in F1 races at Monza, has stood on the podium three times, but has never won.
Norris recorded his worst qualifying result this season – ninth position.
Lewis Hamilton finished all this year’s races in the TOP6 positions.
Hamilton always scores points at the Italian GP if he finishes the race. The Briton has scored points 17 times, and three times did not finish due to collisions.
Hamilton holds the track record at Monza in every major category, but in recent years has had weaker results at this venue for various reasons (big points). He last stood on the podium in 2019 and has had several unlucky performances since then.
Arvid Lindblad advanced to Q3 in qualifying for the sixth consecutive time.
Franco Colapinto matched his best qualifying result this season – eighth position.
Yuki Tsunoda scored points at Monza for the first time in his career. Until now, it was his worst track on the calendar.
Carlos Sainz has not scored points in eight consecutive races, which is his worst streak in his career.
Liam Lawson started four F1 races for Red Bull but scored points only once.
Esteban Ocon failed to advance to Q3 for the seventh consecutive time and lost to his teammate in qualifying at Monza.

Charles Leclerc in Ferrari at the Italian GP always finishes in the TOP4 except for the 2020 and 2026 seasons, when he crashed at the Parabolica corner.

Statistics about teams and engines
Mercedes recorded its 140th Formula 1 victory, the eighth at the Italian GP.
Mercedes recorded its third double this season and 63rd overall in an F1 race.
Mercedes earned its fifth double at the Italian GP.
In every race this year, the Mercedes team has secured at least one podium place.
The Alpine team earned its first Pole Position in its history. Considering previous incarnations of this team, they waited 17 years since Alonso was fastest in Renault qualifying for the 2009 Hungarian GP.
Alpine scored points in the Italian GP race for the first time since 2021.
Red Bull has not won any of the last 13 races. Since Max Verstappen joined the team, they have never had such a poor streak.
Ferrari has won 20 F1 races at Monza and earned 23 Pole Positions. No F1 team has won more races or Pole Positions at a single track than Ferrari at Monza.
From 2024 to 2026, Leclerc qualified fourth at the Italian GP, and the second Ferrari driver qualified fifth.
Williams recorded its worst race at the Italian GP since 2020.
Haas scored points at the Italian GP only in 2024.
Cadillac is the only team whose drivers did not advance to Q2 in qualifying this year.

Other statistical curiosities after the 2026 Italian GP
There have been a total of 77 Italian GP races. This title race is held every F1 season, like only the British GP. Monza hosted the Italian GP for the 76th time; it is the venue that most often hosts F1 races. It was missing only in 1980, when modernization was underway, and the Italian GP was held once at the Imola circuit.
Italians have won 50 races in F1 history.
The last Italian to win an F1 race at Monza was Ludovico Scarfiotti in 1966.
The last Italian to earn a podium in his home race was Giancarlo Fisichella in 2005 – third place.
For the third time this year, the F1 race was interrupted by a red flag.
This year, all F1 qualifying sessions were won by drivers using Mercedes engines driving for three teams.
The tenth driver in Q3 qualifying lost to the winner by only 0.500 seconds. This is the smallest gap in the top ten qualifying since the three-segment format was introduced in 2006.
Five different drivers earned Pole Position during the last five Italian GPs.
Hamilton is the only driver who has completed all laps this season.

Lap times, top speed, and pit stops at the 2026 Italian GP
Pierre Gasly won qualifying for the 2026 Italian GP with a time of 1:21.786. The Alpine driver’s result was 2.994 seconds slower than the Monza qualifying record set by Max Verstappen in 2025 – 1:18.792.
Kimi Antonelli achieved the fastest lap in the race. The Italian set a time of 1:23.504 on lap 53. This is 2.603 seconds slower than the official Monza track record set by Lando Norris in 2025 – 1:20.901.
The highest top speed during the race was achieved by Lando Norris. The Briton recorded 343.9 km/h at the speed trap at the end of the second sector. Due to the specifics of this year’s engines, which lacked full power along the entire straights, drivers reached higher speeds that they then lost. Telemetry data shows Sergio Perez and Lewis Hamilton reached 351 km/h on the main straight. Last year, the fastest at Monza was Alex Albon, who recorded 364.1 km/h.
The fastest pit stop during the 2026 Italian GP was performed by the Audi team mechanics. On lap 27, they changed all four wheels on Nico Hulkenberg’s car in 2.44 seconds. The season record remains the Racing Bulls’ pit stop at the Hungarian GP, done in 1.99 seconds.
Attendance at the 2026 Italian GP
Organizers reported that the weekend attendance at the 2026 Italian GP at Monza was 403,666 fans (Source). This is a record attendance for this Grand Prix and also a record attendance at any sporting event in Italy. The previous attendance record for Monza was 369,041 fans in 2025. Unfortunately, for several years organizers have not provided data broken down by individual days, so we do not know how many people attended the race itself. The track capacity increased following modernization completed in 2024, but I have never seen a new specific figure. Previously, the track capacity was reported as 120,000 people. Tickets for this year’s race were sold out, helped by the excellent form of Kimi Antonelli, who has been very popular in Italy this year.
For comparison, in 2019 the attendance at the Italian GP was 200,000 fans over the whole weekend, which was then a record, the first time such a number was reached. Since the end of the pandemic, attendance has exceeded 300,000, and in 2026 it exceeded 400,000 for the first time. Never before in history has there been so many fans at this track, and we remember, for example, the periods of Ferrari dominance with Schumacher in the early 21st century. Current interest in F1 is greater. Several years ago, weekend attendance was lower because fans mainly came for Sunday races, and on Fridays even at European tracks the stands were mostly empty.
