Achievements and records of drivers who finished on the podium
Max Verstappen won his seventh race this season, it was also his third victory in the Qatar GP, and his 70th overall in his career.
Verstappen won his third consecutive race in Qatar.
Verstappen has always finished in the TOP2 in races in Qatar.
Verstappen recorded his 126th career podium.
Since the summer break, Verstappen has finished every race on the podium – nine in a row.
Verstappen scored the most points in sprints in 2025.
Verstappen recorded his worst qualifying result in Qatar in his career – third place.
Verstappen and Piastri always finish on the podium in the race in Qatar.
Oscar Piastri secured Pole Position for the sixth time in his career.
Piastri secured his previous Pole Position three months ago at the Dutch GP.
Piastri set the fastest lap in an F1 race for the sixth time this season and the ninth time in his career.
Piastri recorded his 25th career podium.
Piastri always finishes on the podium in sprints and races in Qatar.
Piastri won all three sprints held in Qatar. The Australian has no sprint victories on any other track.
Carlos Sainz recorded his 29th career podium.
Third place is Sainz’s best result in a race in Qatar in his career; until now, his record was sixth position in 2024.
Sainz secured two podiums for Williams in 2025. The last time this happened was in 2015, when Felipe Massa and Valtteri Bottas each secured at least two podiums.
Achievements of other drivers
Lando Norris started his 151st F1 race for McLaren and became the team’s most experienced driver in F1. Only Hamilton at Mercedes, Verstappen at Red Bull, and Schumacher at Ferrari have had more races with a single team in F1.
For the first time this season, Norris failed to secure a podium in two consecutive races (he was on the podium in Las Vegas but was disqualified, so officially it doesn’t count).
Norris has never finished higher than Oscar Piastri in a sprint or race in Qatar.
Norris has never won an F1 race starting from second on the grid.
Kimi Antonelli finished in the TOP6 for the fourth consecutive time at the race finish.
George Russell finished all of this year’s races, failing to score points only in the Monaco GP, where he finished 11th.
Russell has an excellent run of results in qualifying and sprint qualifying at the Qatar track for Mercedes. He secured second place four times and fourth place twice.

In races in Qatar for Mercedes, Russell occupies top positions, but worse than in qualifying.
Fernando Alonso, just like in 2024, finished seventh in the Qatar GP. He thus equaled his worst result in this race, as he was higher in 2021 and 2023.
Liam Lawson advanced to Q2 in qualifying in Qatar for the first time in his career on his third attempt.
Yuki Tsunoda scored points in Qatar for the first time in his career.
Tsunoda was eliminated in Q1 in qualifying for the third consecutive time. The previous Red Bull driver to have such a poor streak was David Coulthard at the turn of the 2006 and 2007 seasons.
Lewis Hamilton won the inaugural Qatar GP in 2021, but in the three subsequent races in this country, he did not score a single point.
Hamilton finished in 12th position and did not score points in the race, performing the same way in Qatar in 2024.
Hamilton was always in the TOP6 in qualifying in Qatar for Mercedes, but was eliminated in Q1 for Ferrari.
Hamilton finished qualifying in Q1 for the second consecutive time. The last time he had such a poor streak was in 2009.
The division of qualifying into three segments was introduced in 2006. Since then, only three Ferrari drivers have recorded two consecutive Q1 eliminations: Luca Badoer and Giancarlo Fisichella in 2009, and Lewis Hamilton in 2025.
Pierre Gasly advanced to Q3 in qualifying for the third consecutive time.
Nico Hulkenberg finished 11th in qualifying for the fifth time this year and advanced to Q3 only once.
Team and engine statistics
Red Bull recorded its 129th victory in Formula 1, including its third in the Qatar GP.
Tsunoda is the first Red Bull driver who failed to advance to Q3 in qualifying in Qatar.

McLaren recorded its 177th Pole Position in Formula 1, including its first for the Qatar GP.
McLaren drivers have secured Pole Position on 44 different tracks.
McLaren fully occupied the front row of the grid for the fifth time this season and the 70th time in history.
Thanks to Sainz, Williams recorded its first Q3 advancement in qualifying and its first points in the Qatar GP.
For the first time, both Williams drivers finished the race in the Qatar GP.
In every Qatar GP race, one of the Mercedes drivers finishes in the TOP5.
For the first time, both Mercedes drivers scored points in the Qatar GP.
Both Mercedes drivers always advance to Q3 in qualifying and start the Qatar GP race from the first three rows.
The only podium for the Ferrari team in the Qatar GP is Charles Leclerc’s second place in 2024. Ferrari drivers have never finished in the TOP4 in qualifying at the Losail track and have only once advanced to Q3 as a pair.
Ferrari recorded its worst qualifying performance in Qatar in its history. Drivers from seven teams were faster than them.
Liam Lawson is the first driver from the Red Bull junior team to score points in the Qatar GP.
The Alpine team left Qatar without points for the first time.
Oliver Bearman ended the Haas team’s best-ever streak of five races with points.
Kick Sauber is the only team that did not score points in sprints in 2025.
Other statistical trivia after the 2025 Qatar GP
The 2025 Qatar GP was the fourth Formula 1 race at the Losail International Circuit.
The 2025 Qatar GP was the first during which a lead change occurred. The three previous races were won by drivers who led them from start to finish.
In Qatar, races are won only by Mercedes and Red Bull drivers.
In every Qatar GP race, a different driver starts from Pole Position.
The Qatar GP results mean that three drivers have a chance for the championship title in the season finale. The last such situation was in 2010 (four drivers).
Piastri, Norris, and Verstappen have each won seven races this year.
For the first time in F1 history, three drivers have each secured six Pole Positions in a single season.
There is no driver who has completed every lap in races this year. Russell finished every race, but in Monaco, he was lapped twice, so he is missing two laps.
Verstappen and Alonso are undefeated in internal qualifying duels this season.
Lance Stroll was eliminated in Q1 in qualifying the most times this year – 15 times.
Out of 69 possible podium places to be won this year: 32 were secured by the McLaren team, 14 by Red Bull, 12 by Mercedes, 7 by Ferrari, 2 by Williams, and 1 each by Kick Sauber and Racing Bulls.
Lap times, top speed, and pit stops in the 2025 Qatar GP
Oscar Piastri won qualifying for the 2025 Qatar GP with a time of 1:19,387. The McLaren driver’s result is a new qualifying track record for the Losail International Circuit. The previous record was Verstappen’s 1:20,520 from 2024. Piastri improved it by 1,133 seconds.
Oscar Piastri set the fastest lap during the 2025 Qatar GP race. The Australian achieved a time of 1:22,996 on the 44th lap of the race. The official track record for the Losail International Circuit remains Lando Norris’s time from 2024 – 1:22,384.
The highest top speed during the race was achieved by Yuki Tsunoda. The Japanese driver reached 341,5 km/h at the top speed measurement point at the end of the main straight. I don’t have a good comparison to 2024, as the FIA did not provide an official list then.
The fastest pit stop during the 2025 Qatar GP was performed by the McLaren mechanics. On the 42nd lap, they changed a set of wheels on Oscar Piastri’s car in 2,08 seconds. The record for this season remains McLaren’s result in the Italian GP – 1,91 seconds. The record in the history of all Formula 1 remains the pit stop set by McLaren during the 2023 Qatar GP – 1,80 seconds.
Attendance at the 2025 Qatar GP
A record attendance was recorded during the 2025 Qatar GP weekend, and the number of fans at the Losail track is growing year by year (details in the table below). The organizers stated that from Friday to Sunday, there were a total of 162 972 fans at the track (Source). Unfortunately, we do not have exact data broken down by individual days of the weekend.
In 2021, the Losail track had only 8 000 seats for fans on one grandstand; temporary seats were prepared for the F1 debut. In 2023, the track was significantly modernized and permanent grandstands were enlarged several times, and in 2024, even more seats for fans, new grandstands, and zones were prepared. In 2025, more seats for fans had to be prepared. According to the official announcement, there were 52 000 seats in 2024; when we multiply this by three days, we have 156 000 potential fans – less than the attendance in 2025.
